This article appears on Islamonline.net and should interest many students of insurance. The Islamic insurance product is marketed online as many insurance products nowadays are. In Malaysia, more and more people are turning to Islamic insurance for their motor insurance and many insurance companies now offer takaful (Islamic insurance) motor insurance. This blog is created to provide information on the Actuarial Science and Risk Management Program (ASRM) at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) and to share my views on relevant topics of interest with students and with professionals in the areas of actuarial science and risk management. Being an academic staff at an Islamic University, my comments and interest of course will be those that relate to Islamic aspects of the subjects. However, most issues in the actuarial science and risk management field do involve Islamic aspects and thus topics of interest covered in this blog would include them. Visitors are welcomed to comment and to contribute to this blog.

The sixth leg of the Kobil Rally of Tanzania was flagged off at the Mlimani City in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
About 25 cars have lined up for the 498 kilometer event that would take them to some parts of Dar es Salaam but more sections will be inside the Coast Region areas of Kibaha and Bagamoyo.
Domestic drivers are dominating the event with 16 cars lined up but most of them are vying for the national championship points.
First on the ramp is last year’s winner Zimbabwean James Whyte, who is under the navigation skills of Phil Archenoul in their Subaru N10.
The duo are using Conrad Rautenbach’s car after the owner has opted for the latest edition of Subaru Imprezza N16.
Rautenbach, who is navigated by Nicolas Klinger and are leading the pack of drivers in the continental title race for the closing season, looks well set to thrill fans during the two days event.
