On the back of rising car insurance costs, new research has revealed the cheapest cars to insure for drivers aged 17 to 20, as well as the most expensive.
The cheapest car for this age group to insure is the Ford KA2, with a monthly insurance cost of £137.62, followed by the Ford KA at £148.44 a month, according to the study by Confused.com. In third place, with a monthly premium of £166.20, is the Peugeot 107.
In contrast, the most expensive car to insure is the Honda Civic, with a monthly cost of £376.33. The Volkswagen Golf and Vauxhall Astra are the second and third most expensive, at £327.36 and £310.25 a month respectively.
This research is capped and based on vehicles between the values of £600 and £10,000.
Car insurance costs for young drivers have been spiralling upward to reach record highs earlier this year. In fact, people in the 17 to 20-year-old age group pay as much as four times the average amount for car insurance - usually around £4,006 per year for comprehensive cover, according to the Confused/Tower Watson price index.
