If you plan to secure the head to the continent in search of sun, so necessary, that you check your car insurance policy carefully.
New research from Saga found that many motorists are not prepared for the consequences of accidents and incidents abroad, despite the stresses that can cause such accidents.
What are the risks?
The survey found that only 55 percent of drivers of emergency repair kit with them whengo abroad, while many are not even based their cars such as the level of oil and tire pressure checked before.
The consequences can be enormous. Not only is there a language barrier, but the cost can rise quickly. The average cost of repairs division in Europe, for example, a comparator, more than 550 pounds, with large differences in costs depending on where you travel. Changing a tire in Italy, for example, costs £ 137 on average – and thecould be doubled in France. Highway rest in Italy will cost at least 95 euros, while in France it would cost as £ 155 on weekends.

Motorists should look closely both the relevant insurance and extraction prior to their departure.
The drivers are automatically reduce their insurance coverage to third parties, while abroad and the same may be true with coverage breakdown. The best advice is to call theanother insurer to see exactly what you will cover in place and the time – some will provide comprehensive coverage in Europe for less than three days, just long enough for a weekend, but others offer a wide range of up to 90 days.

Many Britons find driving abroad difficult to master and find themselves travelling on the wrong side of the road or going the wrong way up a one-way street and through no fault of their own find they are victims of car theft and vandalism.
Sainsbury’s car insurance has found that over 2 million Britons abroad admit to driving on the wrong side of the road, causing havoc for themselves and other drivers.
Over 500,000 claim to have been stopped for speeding whilst driving abroad and over 400,000have been involved in a motoring accident while overseas.
Ben Tyte, Head of Car Insurance at Sainsbury’s Finance said: “Drivers taking their cars abroad need to prepare, not just because they’ll be driving on the other side of the road, but because laws differ from country to country.
It is perhaps easy to get your car abroad but as Ben adds: “Motorists need to ensure they have a suitable insurance policy to cover them while overseas and that they understand the legal requirements for driving in the country they are going to.
